East Monitor Barn Community Forum PDF Print E-mail
Written by Will Keyworth

ImageThe Vermont Youth Conservation Corps has purchased the Farm Bureau property on route 2, East of Richmond village. This acquisition allows VYCC to significantly expand their youth education programs and their value to our communities. You are invited to a special evening to learn more and to provide your ideas for future VYCC programs.

The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps and the Richmond Area Business Association, Richmond Land Trust, Richmond Creative Communities and Richmond Historical Society are sponsoring a community forum on May 8th in the West Monitor Barn, the home of the VYCC, East Main St. Richmond, to discuss the future uses of the Vermont Farm Bureau property recently purchased by the VYCC. The property, adjacent to the VYCC headquarters, contains several historic buildings including the East Monitor Barn, the companion barn to the West Monitor Barn.

The evening begins at 6 pm with light refreshments, beverages and tours of both the West and East Monitor. At 6:45, a short video of the reconstruction of the West Monitor Barn, produced by the Richmond Land Trust, will be shown. After a brief overview of the VYCC mission and remarks by the co- conveners, attendees will be encouraged to share their vision for the future uses of the property. The event is scheduled to end at 8:30 pm.

The VYCC is seeking the views and support of our local communities as we take on our biggest work project ever.

Everyone is welcome. RSVP appreciated.
