What is the Solar Jam & Rally?.... The 4th Annual Solar Jam & Rally is a solar powered educational and musical event held in the Richmond Town Park on Sunday September 23rd. The stage is powered by solar panels to demonstrate the uses of solar energy. Also on display will be several vegetable oil powered cars, a solar powered water fountain, a solar oven baking cookies at over 300 degrees, a solar powered bubble blower, and many solar powered gadgets, gizmos, and wizbangs. Solar powered music from bands Wiley Dobbs, The Solar Jammin' All-Stars, and more TBA. Speakers include Drew Hudson from VPIRG, on the Vermont Energy Bill; Chris Williams of Citizens Awareness Network on the status of Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant; a speaker from the Richmond Climate Action Committee; and a "Solar 101" class from the driver of the Solar Bus. Also participating in the event will be several solar, environmental, and progressive business and organizations including The Waterbury Solar Store, Green Technologies, Green Diesels, Efficiency Vermont, Vermont Energy Education Program, Vermont Green Party, The Vermont Democratic Party, and more.
Potluck Info: The Solar Jam & Rally starts at 1PM. A POTLUCK lunch will begin at approximately 2PM. For the potluck please bring a dish to share. For drinks we are going to keep it simple and minimize waste by asking people to bring your own drinks. Vegetarian food is prefered but not mandatory.
