Our Community CARES Camp Update
Our Community Cares Camp, Inc. (OCCC) concluded another successful summer
food service program on July 29th, serving 1091 breakfasts and 2337
lunches for a total of 3428 meals to over 200 children from Richmond,
Bolton and Huntington. This year was OCCC's third year of providing
summer meals to local children who attend academic and camp programs in
the Chittenden East Supervisory Union, as well as the Huntington Library
Friday morning program and the Camels Hump summer bookmobile. The
wonderful meals and the kitchen staff, lead by Karyl Kent, were
highlighted on Hunger Free Vermont's Facebook page,

In addition to providing summer meals, OCCC sponsored a summer day camp
for over 50 children. OCCC Campers had an exciting month of games,
sports, music and arts and crafts. Over 20 teens volunteered their time
as junior counselors interns or culinary interns and gained valuable work
experience while helping the camper's make the most out of their summer
experience. This summer campers explored the world of science with Sarah
King, a Noyes Scholar from Vassar College, who volunteered to teach OCCC
campers about food, water, soil and trees.

OCCC is a not for profit corporation, dedicated to provide summer food and
enrichment to the children of Bolton, Huntington and Richmond. OCCC
receives funding from RABA and many local businesses and individuals and
some granting foundations such as Ben & Jerry's and Green Mountain Coffee
Roasters. The summer food service program is affiliated with the USDA and
State of Vermont Child Nutrition Programs. Donations may be sent to:
