Visitor Outreach Meeting 3 23 07 Agenda PDF Print E-mail
Written by Marie Thomas
Goal: To promote tourism to Bolton, Huntington and Richmond.

To date, the RABA Visitor Outreach Group has implemented prominent display ads in the 2007 / 2008 “Visitor’s Guide to the Champlain Valley” and the 2007 “Burlington & South Burlington Resource Directory.” Thousands of these publications are being distributed in one or more of the following ways:

1. directly to residents of Burlington and South Burlington
2. available at Burlington and South Burlington City Halls
3. available at high traffic venues in the Burlington region
4. available at area I-89 Welcome Centers

The next major project our group has discussed is the creation of a map which would identify places to dine, vacation, shop, get married, hike, bike, ski, hold conferences…. The map could be distributed from locations in Bolton, Huntington and Richmond as well as high traffic areas in Chittenden County and I-89 Welcome Centers.

Kathy Murphy, a Resort Maps (http://resortmaps.com/) franchisee (and previous owner of the parent company) has an interesting proposal to present to us this Friday. Most of us have likely seen a Resort Map especially while on vacation. Resorts Maps are colorful, whimsical, fun to look at AND help visitors (and residents) to find places to dine, shop, sleep-over, hike, bike, ski…. I have attached an image of a portion of the Waterbury Resort Map.

Kathy’s team will do most of the work to create our map, call on potential advertisers, get it printed and distributed.

My goal for this meeting is to decide as a committee whether we want to proceed with Kathy’s proposal. The sooner we decide, the sooner it will be on the “streets.”
